I bought this as part of an upgrade to my coffee setup with the Breville Oracle. I was getting tired of the inconsistency in my shots and decided to refine my workflow. I now use a single-dose grinder and added the Palm Tamper and Leveler to complete the setup (I already had a WDT tool and a mister).
The tamper looks great and pairs nicely with the distributor, but I have to admit I’m still unsure what the numbered markings on the side actually represent. I couldn’t find any clear explanation in the manual or online. My best guess is that they indicate the distance to the top of the puck rather than tamping pressure—which it definitely doesn’t measure.
Overall, it’s a well-made, stylish tamper, and it feels solid in the hand. For now, I’ll just assume I’m tamping somewhere around 30 lbs of pressure and enjoy the look of my upgraded setup.
Just a final note, I am getting a consistent pour and better flavour from my coffee beans so well worth the upgrade.
Great feel and Quality
Absolutely love my new tamper. I could tell straight away it was made from quality products, and both the look and feel certainly reflect this.
Since using it I've noticed my espressos are more consistent, making adjustments easier to get that perfect shot.
I'll lbe back for sure!
Easy and comfortable to use. Gives a consistent result.
Changing from the stock Breville tamper to the self levelling tamper really changed how good the coffee extraction is. A much more even and controlled flow
